Sulawesi – Halmahera (12 Nights)

You will explore the most remote and pristine dive locations on the planet.  Your liveaboard dive experience in Halmahera will include Wrecks, hard coral, muck dives, volcanic rock, caverns, and swim-throughs, a full range of diving throughout your dive cruise.  

Halmahera is the largest island of the Maluku’s.  It is Tropical and covered with lush Indonesian tropical forests.  

Located in the heart of the Coral Triangle, South Halmahera marine ecosystem and rich biodiversity, with exceptional flora and fauna is still a secret gem with so much to be discovered. Halmahera is the largest island in the whole Maluku Islands. Tropical, it is covered with lush forests. Everywhere majestic volcanoes come out of a calm sea and the deep forests of Halmahera have remained intact. Its pristine beaches of white sand and coral reefs offer exceptional conditions for scuba diving and snorkeling.

What to expect: big fish such as Hammerhead, barracuda, oceanic whitetip, mantas.

Komodo Islands (12 Nights)

Located in the strait of the same name at the confluence of the Indian Ocean and the Banda Sea, The Komodo National Park features one of the world’s richest and most diverse marine environments—thanks to the overflowing currents in the area. Also renowned as the home of the famous Komodo Dragon, it is certainly one of the best scuba diving destinations that you can find on the planet.

In the north, you can find a collection of the world’s most beautiful varieties of reefs, boasting a rich combination of hard and soft corals, shoals of antheas, wrasses, angelfishes, and also predators—reef sharks, tunas, and giant kingfishes. In the south, you will see more soft corals with an amazing profusion of colors, and even more macro (and manta rays too!). The water is rather cold and the temperature can drop down to 23 ° C in July and August.

Komodo offers a wide variety of dives: pelagic dives with sharks in strong currents, gentle drift dives, wall dives (colorful drop-offs, monumental boulders, seamounts, pinnacles and sandy slopes) and macro dives. You can also find manta rays, turtles and if you are lucky enough, some whale sharks!

Daily Itinerary: 

  • DAY 1
    Spots : North Komodo-South Komodo-Sangean
    Safety Briefing, Crew Introduction, Necessary Dive Paperwork, Cabin allocation and ship orientation will take place before departing the Harbour. During the journey to our first dive site for a check dive, please take this opportunity to familiarize yourselves with the vessel and make yourself comfortable.   • DAY 2

You go North to the Island of Padar where we will do 2 dives, according to the tide and eventual swell, dives will be 3 sisters (a complexes of 3 pinnacles, rich in critters and fish life), Pilarsteen, No problem, before to cross again the channel and do our 3rd dive in Pantai Merah. A night dive will be offered. Opportunity for a short walk on the island from the Pantai Merah beach.
  • DAY 5:
    4 dives At dawn, we will cross the channel between Komodo and Rinca. The first dive in South Rinca is the famous cannibal rock, a great abundance of critters (frogfish, Coleman shrimps and zebra crabs on fire urchins, rare nudibranchs, leaf fishes, sea apples), on a reef well covered with soft corals. A phillodesmium in cannibal rock 2nd dive on Yellow wall, with its incredible colors of soft corals, Feather stars, green and yellow tubastrea corals. Afternoon dive and night dive on Torpedo, an interesting muck dive site. Water is generally cold, 22 to 24 °C. We generally can see the Komodos dragons on the beach in this area.
  • DAY 6:
    Morning dive on the West of Komodo, before go further south where you will dive Manta Alley, a famous dive site for its Manta cleaning station. The water is cooler in this area and can be as low as 22 °C. 2 dives on Manta alley, Night dive on the coast.
  • DAY 7:
    4 dives 1 morning dive in Banta Island (Tanjung Rusa or GPS point), then the two following dives Night dive on the west coast of Komodo island. Anchorage in the magnificent bay of Loh Srikaya. 3 dives.
  • DAY 8:
    2 dives in the morning depending on guest flight schedules and the 24 hour requirement before flying.
  • DAY 9:

Raja Ampat / Banda Sea – Ring of Fire Cruise

Our cruise will bring you across the Banda Sea & The Ring of Fire, steeped in history and blessed with some of the finest diving in the country, with an immense variety and volumes of both large and small species. traveling for about 550 nautical miles. We visit many different islands and a great variety of dive sites till Triton Bay.

The very clear and nutrient-rich upwelling waters bring in pelagic, dogtooth tunas, reef sharks and large schools of hammerhead sharks during the months we visit the area (Sept-Nov), sailfishes

The scenery is breathtaking: underwater fallings and coral reef. On land you will find deserted beaches, aboriginal villages and so many breathtaking landscapes. This is a rare and unique opportunity to cruise, dive and explore one of the ultimate, very remote and untouched paradise on earth.

To reach the departure of this cruise

The cruise departure is from Saumlaki. That city is well served with several daily flights from Jakarta. 

Soekarno-Hatta is the International airport recommended. Landing with Emirates EK 356 (the day before the departure of the cruise at 15:40) works well to continue with the domestic flight to Saumlaki. Departing at 23:45 (GA640) this Garuda Indonesia flight will land Saumlaki at 09:30.

Lion Air is a cheaper option although the luggage allowance is only 10 kg on this route (extra kg fees: 2 €/kg). 

The last day of the cruise return from Kaimana to Jakarta (12:20-17:15) with Lion Air might allow you to catch your Emirate International flight EK 357 at 00:15 (15 minutes after midnight).

Daily Itinerary:

Start of this fantastic adventure in the Dampier strait to meet the Manta Rays in the current…Biodiversity will reach its paroxysm in Misool – where stand the most beautiful dives sites of Raja Ampat – then Dampier Strait – Excellent wide-angle, amazing biodiversity with mantas and lots of fish.   • DAY 1
    Our staff will welcome you at your arrival at Kaimana airport, at 10:20 (please see the internal flight schedule in the « travel info » section) or will pick you up from your hotel if you are already in Kaimana. Our « Raja Ampat » cruise departures are from Sorong (SOQ). That city is well served with some daily flights from the main Indonesian International Airports such as Jakarta, Manado, Makassar, and Denpasar. To reach the departure of our cruises.
Jakarta is the International airport recommended. Landing with Emirates EK 356 (the day before the departure of the cruise at 15:40) works well to continue with the domestic flights to Sorong. Garuda Indonesia and Nam Air offer direct 4-hour flights Jakarta-Sorong taking-off a bit after midnight.Return Jakarta-Sorong the last day of the cruise in the afternoon. The main highlight of the area is the gorgeous abundance of life, both the fixed fauna such as corals and gorgonians and the stunning abundance of fish. Trevallies, barracudas, bump-head parrotfish, spadefish, surgeonfish, fusiliers often form big schools on the reefs. Mantas rays are generally present on at least two dive sites, and encounters with bigger fishes as tunas, Spanish mackerels, reef sharks and the “carpet shark” – Wobbegong – are frequent.

 Misool & Dampier Strait: Excellent wide-angle, amazing biodiversity with mantas and lots of fish. Colorful soft corals and macro. Batanta in this area is known for the macro dives.

  • DAY 1
    Spots : Dampier Strait – Wayag | Kawe – Misool
    Guest reception at Sorong airport, check in, welcome drink, briefing, departure in early afternoon. According to the weather forecast, we will start the tour by the south or the North. In this schedule, we present the option of starting with the South. Overnight Navigation through Sele Strait to reach the East of Misool. Arrival in the early morning.
  • DAYS 2-5
    In East Misool you will discover 3 fantastic dives: No contest, Love potion, 3 Rocks. Rocks with vertical walls and fantastic coverage of soft corals, lot of fishes with schools of Platax, aggregations of snappers, bump head parrotfishes. We spend the night in the hidden lagoon, a very special anchorage inside an almost closed bay surrounded by high rocks. From the boat, we can hear and see the cachants before the night falls. We will go with the dinghies to have a look at another lagoon.   • DAY 9
    Wayag, the northern point of our cruise is a fantastic quartz islets labyrinth. We dive Quoy, rock cathedrale and Wayag ridge. In the late afternoon, we climb to a small mountain to admire the wonderful landscape of the area.
  • DAY 10
    After a first dive in Wayag ( figure eight ), we go to the Kawe island where we dive Black rock and eagle rock . Night dive. Night navigation to Dampier strait.
  • DAYS 11-12
    A first morning dive at Citrus – at the entrance of the Dampier strait, a channel with sloping sides covered with soft corals and life-then with a reliable manta ray congregation at manta sandy .
